Janet Newcomer is a life-long Medina County resident. She grew up on a small family dairy farm in Chatham Township, and lives on what remains of that farm. A graduate of Cloverleaf and Kent State University, Janet began her career in business-to-business sales, and then moved into the non-profit sector. She was the first development officer at Hospice of Medina County and went on to work as a fundraiser for Case Western Reserve University, Kent State University and the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International. She began her work in hunger and food insecurity with an international hunger relief organization, Rise Against Hunger. Prior to coming to FMC, Janet was with the Akron Canton Regional Foodbank. Janet feels working to fight hunger is the most important work she’s done in her career. She loves being outdoors, enjoys doing a little bit of farming, being involved in activities in Chatham, and spending time with family and friends.
