Volunteer Coordinator

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about our cause, dependable, highly-organized and people-centered to join our team as our Volunteer Coordinator. 

You’ll play a key role in mobilizing community support, managing volunteer programs, and ensuring that we deliver food and hope to those who need it most.

The Volunteer Coordinator works in a dynamic and fast-paced environment to support the organization’s mission through effective volunteer management. This is a part-time position (20 – 25 hours/week) responsible for coordinating a large and diverse volunteer base across several programs and service locations.

Volunteers play a crucial role in delivering our programs and services, and the Volunteer
Coordinator is instrumental in recruiting, placing, and supporting volunteers to ensure operational success. The ability to engage with individuals from all backgrounds and to manage logistics across multiple sites is key to this role. The role requires strong organizational skills, a high degree of commitment, and availability, flexibility, and dependability.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Screen, train, and steward volunteers, maintain our volunteer database system, supervise volunteers at our warehouse and off-site distribution locations
  • Work with corporate and community organizations to develop partnerships for volunteer recruitment and promote Feeding Medina County as a volunteer opportunity to individuals
  • Collaborate with the Director of Operations and Warehouse Associate to coordinate volunteer opportunities and related activities across all our programs


Other Essential Abilities:

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as self-accountability
  • This position will travel to off-site distribution locations around Medina County weekly
  • This is also an on-site position, working at the FMC warehouse in Medina, with limited work from home
  • Must be willing to work early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends to participate in various events
  • Responsive and available for communication after hours, to support volunteers and staff, when needed

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
  • Two years of previous professional experience in recruitment or customer service preferred
  • Two years experience managing volunteers or paid employees
  • Non-profit work experience preferred
  • CRM database experience required
  • Proficient using the latest versions of Microsoft Office, including Outlook,
    Word, Excel, PowerPoint, mail merges, email, and web searches; experience with design programs such as CANVA are a plus

 

Organizational Skills:

  • Skilled at managing multiple priorities efficiently while remaining organized and meeting deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, demonstrated ability to work with diverse people at all levels, both in and out of the organization
  • Strong project management and decision-making skills; demonstrated use of sound judgment
  • Ability to work with and to adjust and to be flexible to changing priorities and situations
  • Self-starter who can work independently. Must be able to anticipate project needs and discern work priorities with little supervision
