Additional programming is also being developed in conjunction with the garden:
- Mentoring: The local gardening community and volunteers will work alongside teens assigned to community service by Medina County Juvenile Court. The teens will gain a new perspective of their community and the positive impacts they can make.
- Cooking Classes: Mark Williams of Williams on the Lake has committed to teaching youth cooking skills using produce from the garden
- Nutrition Education: Community members will learn the foundations of proper nutrition and the health benefits of produce grown in the garden.
Thank you to Chickmaster; the Medina County Women's Endowment Fund; the Medina County Community Fund, and the many private donors that made the Lafayette Rd. Community Gardens & Orchard a huge success. If you would like to sponsor a plot in the garden, please contact our office at 330-421-4816 for information.
Garden opening is scheduled for June 4, 2016 at 8:30am - noon. Lunch will be served afterwards.
